One of the best meal we had in Chicago!

Again, we came here because our friend recommended. Excellent recommendation!

We arrived here around 6:45pm and this place was packed! We were told the wait was 30mins. This place is sort of tiny, there is no waiting area, we were waiting outside.

Finally after much chatting, laughing, and teasing each other in the front door, we were told our table was ready. There was a basement level to this place, the basement was almost the same size as upstairs I would say there were 5 big tables downstairs and 3 big tables and 3 small tables upstairs. I could be wrong, but the number should be close.

The guy served us was very friendly and funny! He spoke both Cantonese and Mandarin.

Bf is more familiar with HK style dishes, so he ordered the following:

French Style Beef Tenderloin (法式牛肉) - I didn't try this one (trying to cut red meat). My friend said the beef were very tender and marinated perfect.

Poached Manila Clams with XO Sauce (XO醬花蜆) - Perfected cooked clams, the sauce was a little salty to my likely. One thing I noticed was there wasn't many empty clams, maybe one and two. Sometimes when we ordered this in Chinese restaurant you will see many empty clams, kind of bugs me. I am not a big clams fan!

Hong Kong Style Soft Shell Crab (避風塘炒軟殼蟹) - Absolutely love this dish! First time had this, I mean the HK style. The soft shell crab was fried crispy, but not too oily. The little shavings on top goes excellent with rice! Highly Recommended!

Shell-on Shrimp in Salted Egg Yolk (流沙黃金蝦) - THE BEST DISH OF THE MEAL! This dish is a must if you eat here. The guy told us this is their "Brand Name Dish" in Cantonese. He was right. This saltiness of the salted egg yolk wrapping around the shrimp was so heavenly delicious. I believed the fried the shrimp for a little, but this wasn't too oily.

Lastly, we saw 2 kinds of papaya soup front poster and decided to order both. Because they cook these in the whole papaya, so it takes 30mins. We ordered this in the beginning of the meal, by dessert time, it was perfect.

Savory Whole Papaya Seafood Soup - mind you, these are single size papaya, this small one was divided into 5. We were able to eat 1 serving spoon for each of us. We just wanted to try out. The soup was perfect, a hint of seafood flavor and I can taste the natural sweet from the Papaya.

Sweet Whole Papaya Dessert (Jujubi 紅棗 + Snow Fungus雪耳) - This is perfect for someone like me, who doesn't like overly sweet dessert. The Papaya was a little hard on this one, but still good. Just a great way to end the meal.

Total for this meal was approx 73.00 before tax. There were 5 of us, so really not too bad.

I will definitely come back next time I am in town.
