I really wanted to keep loving you Mai Lee. I've a patron since I was a kid, from your old location to moving to this bigger new location. Nonetheless, you really have disappointed me the last couple times in terms of service, quality and portion.
The food still taste ok, but definitely sense the decrease. My favorite Beef Pho noodle soup doesn't taste as bold, punch as before. Oh and the service is a hit or miss, so I guess it will depend on my luck.
Worst of all, the portion is so tiny. I can't even begin to describe how much is has changed. I am not a big eater, and I wasn't really full after the meal. I remembered I used to be holding my stomach home after dining at your old location!
Alright, lets see ... we always ordered #12 off the menu:
Beef & Beef Ball Noodle Soup - we have ONE piece of beef ball, but cut into 4 tiny pieces. REALLY!? Seriously!? 1 into 4! The noodle soup is $7.95 per bowl, I would think you can do better ... and least if you throw in couple more piece it would look better presentation wise? Oh well ... I am not sure if I wanted to give you another chance. Yes, you are the closest to me, but not the best anymore.
[caption id="attachment_1259" align="aligncenter" width="750"] Beef with Beef Ball Noodle Soup - very small portion :( only 1 piece of meat ball cut into 4 tiny pieces!![/caption]

KOREAN CAFE - CHESTERFIELD, MO (ST. LOUIS)
Finally finished my 2 months work project, got it all done and uploaded last week. Yeah, no more deadline project until October - November.
I am back home in St. Louis, working and catching up with friends.
Anyhow, I went out with my brother to lunch today to Korean Cafe. I've ate here before and liked this place. It is a small cafeteria style, self served restaurant inside a Korean grocery. Food is pretty good and as authentic as we can get in St. Louis.
Very simple picture menu about 20 items.
Spicy Chicken Wings - crispy, sweet, tangy and lightly spicy.
Soon-Do-Bu Jjigae (Spicy Tofu Soup) - very flavorful, spicy, custardy soft tofu, and little bit of seafood. Goes extremely well with rice :)
Bimbibap - served in a metal bowl, rice mixed with beef, veggies, and egg. Comes with bottle of sesame oil and chili pepper paste, you can add according to your taste. Not bad really. I wish it was served in traditional stone pot.
[caption id="attachment_1250" align="aligncenter" width="750"] Bimbibap - very fulfilling :)[/caption]

PASTARIA - ST. LOUIS, MO (CLAYTON)
It has been a long while, I am travelling for work ... so not enough time for any updates. Anyhow, I have one today --- PASTARIA by Niche in St. Louis, MO. This restaurant is pretty new, a very nice cozy decor bricks and woods, and open kitchen.
It was crowded even for a Wednesday evening. The wait wasn't bad, about 20 minutes. They will take down your name and phone number; and text you when your table is ready, very convenient. Menu was one simple page and our focus was the Pasta!
Just two girls, so we didn't order a lot. Food was good, but service was bland.

[caption id="attachment_1242" align="aligncenter" width="750"] Complimentary Freshly Bake Bread, loved their special spicy oil for dipping[/caption]
Fried Risotto Balls - lightly fried, crispy on the outside, cheesy and creamy in the inside!
[caption id="attachment_1243" align="aligncenter" width="750"] Fried Risotto Balls - must get![/caption]
Pappardelle - smoked pork, mascarpone, apples .... pasta was really good, but smoked pork was way too salty!

[caption id="attachment_1245" align="aligncenter" width="750"] Tiramisu - fluffy and not overly sweet, we liked it![/caption]
Overall, the food was pretty good. I wouldn't mind to go back and try other items on the menu!

Denny's Restaurant - (late night dinner)
Ok ... I know I haven't been updating for a full month #_# ... I was busy with a project at work, now that is finally finished. I am free!!!!
Here we go, I went to Denny's with my brother on a late evening. We got there around 11pm. Nothing exciting ... but just to share.

LemonGrass Vietnamese Restaurant - St. Louis, MO
A friend recommended this place, place was clean. We got there around 1pm for lunch, there were a few tables there. Service was prompt, our water glasses were always filled.
[caption id="attachment_522" align="aligncenter" width="600"] LemonGrass Vietnamese Restaurant[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_523" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Inside[/caption]
The pancake was very good, its a little from other Vietnamese restaurant. The outer skin was more thick and crispier ... but I like that. Sauce was good.
[caption id="attachment_524" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Vietnamese Pan Cake[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_525" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Filled with bean spouts and shrimp[/caption]
I ordered the rice pot my friend recommended. Maybe I have high expectation, but the rice pot wasn't what I think. I don't even think its an authentic Vietnamese dish.
It served in a metal hot pot, filled with veggies and meat (or seafood) with brown sauce. The dish was like any other dish you get in Chinese restaurant. Only thing special was the crispy rice. I am suspecting they coated the metal pot with lots of oil and place cooked rice inside ... let it cook til crispy. Anyhow, I am not impressed.

California Pizza Kitchen - Richmond Heights, MO (St. Louis)
I just realized this place had a renovation. The place seemed bigger with kind of a rural pastoral design.
[caption id="attachment_512" align="aligncenter" width="600"] California Pizza Kitchen[/caption]
Friends and I decided to come here to have dinner on a early Friday evening. Place wasn't very crowded, we were here around 6pm.
We didn't order pizza this time, I think we've tried all the pizza on the menu already. We decided to go with pastas.
[caption id="attachment_513" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Front Menu - Go online to check out full menu[/caption]
They now offer complimentary bread with olive oil and herbs. Bread could be warmer, it was crusty outside and soft inside, loved the olive oil.
[caption id="attachment_514" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Complimentary Bread[/caption]
I ordered the Chicken Tequila Fettuccine - I really liked the hint of jalapenos lime sauce, not really spicy. Skimpy on the chicken.

St. Louis Bread Co. AKA Panera Bread - St. Louis, MO
Short lunch update at Panera Bread.
Never been to this location before, but my friend work close by and I am taking couple days off ... so decided to meet up for lunch.
Parking lot is huge and busy, if you don't mind a bit of walking, you shouldn't have any problem finding a parking. I didn't expect this place to be so busy, I was here first and actually had to wait a bit for a table.
I won't go more about service, because we all know.
I ordered the Pick 2, you can pick from 1/2 salad, 1/2 soup, or 1/2 cafe sandwiches, just pick 2 - simple easy.
I got 1/2 Bistro French Onion Soup and 1/2 Sierra Turkey Sandwich - comes with a choice of bread, chips or apple - I opted for bread to go with my soup.
Honestly the food is nothing special, it is a good place to catch up with friends or work.
[caption id="attachment_485" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Very busy during lunch time[/caption]

Don't expect much service. Dim Sum was quite okay.

Oceano Bistro - Clayton, MO (St. Louis)
I came here with a group of friends to try out their Restaurant Week Menu (RWM). This is not the first I've been here, but definitely the first time to try out the RWM.
Reservation were made at 6:30pm, and we didn't really have to wait. It was extremely crowded!!

[caption id="attachment_471" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Oceano Bistro[/caption]
Regular menu was also served, but we didn't come here for that. There were 4 of us.
We were served with nice and warm bread as starter. The bread were extremely good, crusty outside and soft and chewy inside. Really love the roasted bell pepper puree with the olive oil.
[caption id="attachment_463" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Bread and Olive Oil with Roasted Bell Pepper Puree[/caption]
As for appetizer, we all ordered the Maryland Lump Crab Cake, size was like a large scallop and you get 2 pieces ... it was very fresh and tasty.
[caption id="attachment_469" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Maryland Lump Crab Cake[/caption]
Moving on to entrees:
[caption id="attachment_464" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Grilled Atlantic Salmon Salad[/caption]
I didn't try this Tuna dish, but oh boy, only 3 small cut pieces of tuna. Sad!
[caption id="attachment_465" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Spiced South Pacific Big Eye Tuna[/caption]
This was what I ordered, I thought the risotto was a bit under cook, a bit hard. Otherwise the sea bass was very good.
[caption id="attachment_466" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Warm Water Sea Bass with Risotto[/caption]
Dessert:
3 of my friends wanted Creme Brulee: It was extremely tiny!! A little bit bigger than sample cups you get from Frozen Yogurt place.
[caption id="attachment_467" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee[/caption]
I wanted to be special, so I ordered something different from the group. Nothing special about this dessert. I only liked the lite puffy pastry.
[caption id="attachment_468" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Phyllo Brownie with Ice Cream[/caption]
Oceano Bistro RWM was $25 per person. Portion were definitely smaller, a lot smaller ... but worth a try during RWM.

Meat was a little disappointed. All meats were a over salty.
- Teriyaki Beef waas hard and too dry.
- Garlic Parmesan Beef was tender, but way too salty.
- Top Sirloin was the best out of all.

Hot Wok Cafe 首都 - St. Louis, MO (Chesterfield, MO)
I would give it a 4 star if it wasn't the price. We came here on Saturday for their exclusive Taiwanese Brunch. This is probably 1 of the only place that offers Taiwanese style brunch in St. Louis.
This place might be a little hard to find, its hidden inside a plaza. There were a few students and Asian families here Saturday morning. Place is clean and service was okay.
[caption id="attachment_422" align="alignleft" width="600"] Taiwanese Brunch (too many people there, hard to take individual pictures)[/caption]
We ordered:
2 Soy Milk @ $2.29 each - a big bowl to be shared. soy milk was served hot, and full of soy taste, add sugar according to your taste.
2 Chinese Cruller @ $2.29 each - big and fluffy. very good but not too the point thats worth $2.29 for fried dough.
Beef Sesame Bun @ $4.99 - lack of flavor.
Green Onion Pancake @ $3.99 - smelled really good, served hot, soft and chewy.
Beef Noodle Soup @ $10.00 - small bowl, very little beef, doesn't even taste really authentic. definitelyl not worth $10.
Spicy Beef Tendon @ $8.99 - taste ok.
Five Spiced Beef @ $10.50 - small portion, nothing special.
Century Egg and Pork Porridge @ $6.00 - really disappointed, very little eggs, lack of flavor.
2 Sticky Rice Roll @ $3.99 ea - probably the best part of the meal, sticky rice was cooked right, perfect amount of pork floss, egg, fried dough. I like it, but still thing its expensive!!
The above items are at least 37%-45% more expensive compare to Chicago. For this price, I will only come here once a long while.

Korean Kitchen - St. Louis, MO (Olive Blvd.)
A friend suggested to come here on a Friday night. This place was packed, a sign says "Please seat yourself", so I found a table sat there wait for my friends arrival. No body paid attention to me ... finally my friends came. No body greeted, after about 20mins ... a lady spoken in broken English told us to move to a bigger table.
Service was just terribly bad ... I understand they were busy and short handed. But having us wait 20 mins for water and menu, another 20 mins to take our order just not right.
Ok ... about the food:
We ordered:
17 Banchans:
[caption id="attachment_329" align="alignnone" width="500"] Banchans - 17 side dishes[/caption]
Chap Chae - shared among 4 of us. A little greasy, but texture was good.
[caption id="attachment_328" align="alignnone" width="500"] Chap Chae - Stir Fry Glass Noodle[/caption]
Dolsot Bimbibap - "stone pot mixed rice" ... stone bowl was hot. I didn't order this, but friend said it was ok.

[caption id="attachment_331" align="alignnone" width="500"] Dolsot Bimbibap - Stone Bowl Mixed Rice with Sauce on top[/caption]
Tofu Seafood Soup - very disappointed. i got a bowl of soup with imitation crab meat, little piece of scallop, squid, and little calm meat. Come on now? imitation crab meat?? not even a piece of shrimp? mussel?

[caption id="attachment_333" align="alignnone" width="500"] Tofu Seafood Stew - lots of imitation crab meats, not good![/caption]

Don't think I will come back here anymore.

I was here yesterday with my boss and one of her friend. We arrived around 12:00pm, this place was almost full.
[caption id="attachment_294" align="alignnone" width="500"] Inside[/caption]
Me and my boss ordered hot tea to drink.
[caption id="attachment_295" align="alignnone" width="500"] Hot Green Tea[/caption]
Entrees:
Chirashi Bowl: its comes with Salmon, Tuna, White Tuna, Eel, Tamago, Ebi, and Hamachi with bedding of rice. Salmon was best out of all, its was like a melt-in-my-mouth texture. Tuna was a bit disappointed, it has gristle. All other sashimi was ok.
[caption id="attachment_296" align="alignnone" width="500"] Chirashi Bowl[/caption]
Salad: it was refreshing ... it serves with a citrus dressing.
[caption id="attachment_297" align="alignnone" width="500"] Salad[/caption]
Maki D: variety of sushi, didn't try.
Spicy Chicken: didn't try, but it looks pretty good.
Teriyaki Beef Bento: got that togo, and ate it for dinner ... beef was dry and hard.
We ordered another Maki D for our manager.
Total bill was about $75.00 (excluding tips, boss paid)

Thai Kitchen - Maryland Heights, MO (St. Louis)
I always come here with friends, and yes we always order the same thing - Tom Yum Noodle Soup (its a seafood noodle soup) ... it has shrimp, imitation crab meats, fish balls, squid, and minced chicken.
Portion is big ... but for $11.95 a bowl, it should be big. Soup flavor is bold and intense. We always like to add extra condiments in the soup, like chili pepper and chili sauce.
[caption id="attachment_285" align="alignnone" width="500"] Tom Yum Noodle Soup[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_286" align="alignnone" width="500"] Tom Yum Noodle Soup[/caption]
Friend also ordered the Beef Salad, there was a huge mountain of beef on top. But again, for $9.95, it should be huge.
They forgot my thai tea last time I was there, it was later taken off my bill.
Service can be hit or miss.

Seoul Garden Korean Restaurant - St. Ann, MO (St. Louis)
I am not really a fan, this place is more like 3.5 star to me.
We came here on a weekday dinner with co-workers, 5 of us total. We opted for the All-You-Can-Eat for $20/pp. It comes with soup and salad, but we were confused about the soup ... the waiter say it only comes with 2 soups with party of 5. Errrr ... really? Not that we wanted to fill up on the soup, but just doesn't make sense.
[caption id="attachment_276" align="alignnone" width="500"] Seoul Garden Ban Chan[/caption]
We order our first round: Pork Belly and Premium Cut. Both were pretty good, premium cut was pretty tender.
[caption id="attachment_277" align="alignnone" width="500"] Pork belly & premium cuts[/caption]
Second round we got: Marinated Pork and Premium Cut ... and Sirloin ... but we were told there was no Sirloin!! Disappointed. Marinated pork was towards the sweeter side.
[caption id="attachment_278" align="alignnone" width="500"] More pork belly & premium cuts[/caption]
Third round we got: Pork Belly, and Marinated Chicken. The chicken taste the same as the marinated pork, sweet.
[caption id="attachment_279" align="alignnone" width="500"] Pork Belly & Marinated Chicken[/caption]
We had 2 cokes, and 3 bottles of beer.
FYI, there is no dessert here. Overall, I think its good value for all you can eat kbbq.

Haveli Indian Restaurant (Lunch Buffet) - St. Louis, MO
We were here on a Saturday afternoon, around 1.45pm, tried their lunch buffet.
The lunch buffet was ok. I found that their naan was a little drier than other Indian restaurants ... but it goes well with the chicken tikka masala. Tandoori chicken was okay, not terrific. There were couple empty pans in the buffet, and one of them they didn't refill, perhaps they were closing the buffet at 3pm.
Service was good and attentive.

Tani Sushi Bistro - Clayton, MO
Tani Sushi Bistro is known in St. Louis as a hip place. I came here with my co-worker on a Monday evening, it was my first time to Tani. First was impression was nice setting, dark modern setting with a little Asian decor. From my friends ... this place is very packed Friday nights and weekends.
Our Monday evening wasn't so bad, I did made reservation. We were seated promptly.
Sorry, the pictures are so dark (it was pretty dark inside) and I didn't have my camera with me.
[caption id="attachment_43" align="alignnone" width="600"] Tani Sushi Bistro[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_44" align="alignnone" width="600"] Inside[/caption]
We ordered some sashimi, special rolls, and nigiri.
Sashimi ... I am a little disappointed. We ordered 12 pcs chef's pick sashimi - 3 tuna, 3 salmon, 3 albacore, 3 tako (octopus). The tuna wasn't fully thaw, I bite into a little frost. The salmon was pretty good. Not worth $22 in my opinion.
[caption id="attachment_45" align="alignnone" width="600"] 12 pcs sashimi combo (chef's pick)[/caption]
Then we some speciality rolls. There is really NOTHING ultimate about the Ultimate Roll! Just so plain even with the sauce.
The worst was the Albacore Jalapeno Roll - so bland, I just taste the rice and the jalapeno :/
Rainbow roll and Soft Shell Crab roll was okay, I have had better ones.
[caption id="attachment_46" align="alignnone" width="600"] Special Rolls:
Bottom (with some sauce) - The Ultimate Roll $14
Flower Shape - Albacore Japapeno Roll $12
Seaweed Wrap - Soft Shell Crab Roll $9
Top - Rainbow Roll $11[/caption]
Lastly, we had 2 pcs of Ikura nigiris $5.90/2pcs (I forgot to take picture). Actually the waitress forgot about this one, I had to remind her. Ikura was ok.
I am not very impress with the food quality. The total bill comes to about $85 for 2 person. This is probably one of the highest price sushi in town. I think I can have same or better sushi elsewhere.

Pi Pizzeria - Manchester Road (St. Louis, MO)
Fantastic deep dish pizza in STL! I came here last week with 3 of my friends. It was a Friday evening and we arrived around 6:15pm without reservation. I wasn't surprised that there was a wait line, there was a lady in the front desk took my name down and told me the waiting time is about 30 mins and we could go grab a drink at the bar.
[caption id="attachment_17" align="alignnone" width="600"] Bar Area[/caption]
The waiting time was about right, we were seated in about 30 mins. There is a lower level in this location, we were seated at the lower level right by the stairway (not my favorite because of all the customer walking up and down, but I have no choice due to the busy hours). Atmosphere was nice, a little loud at times, but its fine with me ... its a pizzeria place.
[caption id="attachment_18" align="alignnone" width="600"] That's not a real candle.[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_19" align="alignnone" width="600"] Pi glass cup (this was my friend's, but I switched it :P)[/caption]
There were 2 ladies serving our table, I believe 1 girl is a trainee. Service was good, very attentive. We did have to ask for refill once, but it was okay, they are busy. Okay, to the food. We decided to order 2 appetizers, and 1 large deep dish pizza (you can do half & half). Our first appetizer, this is more like a 2 people serving. Our nice friend managed to split into 4 pieces, so all of us can try. It was a little expensive for the serving size.
[caption id="attachment_21" align="alignnone" width="600"] Blazed Wings - pretty big wings![/caption]
2nd appetizer - chicken wings served with carrots and blue cheese. Wings were very hot when it was served. There were a total of 9 wings. Honestly, the wings were not up to par, the taste was very bland.
[caption id="attachment_21" align="alignnone" width="600"] Blazed Wings - pretty big wings![/caption]
Finally ... Deep Dish Pizza!!! We ordered the large one, 16', half Bucktown and half Kirkwood. The cornmeal crust was very good, crumbly buttery crust! We liked the sauce, it was a little toward the sweeter side. Like most deep dish pizza, mozzarella cheese were at the bottom, then toppings, lastly the sauce. It was hard to tell which side was Bucktown and Kirkwood, only easy distinction was the Olives (which is suppose to be on the Bucktown). I have to say, the Kalamata olives were SUPER salty. We all had to pick out the olives before eating the pizza.

We were VERY full by the end of the meal. We girls couldn't finish the crust of the pizza, the guys did pretty well. The total bill excluding tip was around $43.00, each person is about $10.75. This place is good for groups.
