We were taken here by a friend. Parking was very pretty full, but we were able to find a parking within a few minutes.
This restaurant is pretty big, plenty of tables when we were there, must be early and on a weekday. Decor is little old, service was ok.
We ordered:
Crab Meat w/ Fish Maw Soup - a little salty, but every bite has crab meat and fish maw.

Shrimp w/ Pepper Salt - excellent, shrimp was cooked to perfection, seasoning was good!!

Lotus Root w/ Chinese Veggies - your typical veggie dish, it was ok.

Braised Pink Grouper w/ Clay Pot - sizzling hot, very flavorful.

Baked Lobster w/ Ginger Onion - best deal! Fresh from the tank $5.99 per pound, we ordered 5 lbs. Taste very fresh!

Frog w/ Spicy Pepper Salt - breading was a little too much. crispy and good flavors.

If memory served me right, the total was around $100 before tips.

Southern Mini Town Restaurant 小南國 (Shanghainese)- SAN GABRIEL, CA
Digging up some old eateries. We visited LA in Dec - Jan and our friend took us around for good food.
We were taken to 小南國 Southern Mini Town Restaurant in San Gabriel, Ca, specialize in Shanghaiese Cuisines. This place is tiny and packed. You literally elbow each other. But food was good.
There were 5 of us, and we ordered 7 dishes.
Shanghai Thick Noodle Chow Mein: noodle was perfect al-dente.

Noodle with Scallion: a little too soft on this one.

Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet - ok, not my fav.

Fried Seaweed Yellow Fish: very crispy and hot, very good. it was served with a sweet & sour sauce, I think.

Sauteed Squash - good. just need a plate of veggie to balance the meal.

Glutinous Rice Balls in Wine Flavoured Soup - perfect dessert, but just not my cup of tea.

Our total bill was around $55.00, not too bad for a 7 dishes.
